Since it is the LAST WEEK OF WALK TO TUK, I wanted to take a moment to thank you.
Thank you for recruiting your friends, family, loved ones, colleagues, and peers to embark on this challenge together towards health, physical activity, prizes, and connection. This year has been so hard for everyone, and it takes a special person to reach inside and give that little bit of extra energy to motivate the people around them. I know that your team appreciates you, and we certainly do at the NWT Recreation and Parks Association.
This week, you will be fervently emailing your teammates to get those last few miles in (right?), checking your progress on the Walk to Tuk map, and logging in to the website to make sure that everything is in before the Final deadline on March 2. Amidst the chaos, take some time to appreciate your own hard work. Go for a walk and breathe, enjoy the sun that is visiting longer each day, and recognize that you have spent 2+ months helping our communities grow stronger, happier, and healthier in one of the most difficult winters we've had in a long time.
Spend a minute or two congratulating your team on their hard work! Remind each other that Walk to Tuk may be over, but you're in the groove now! Keep walking, keep moving, and keep in touch!
Thank you, Captains. We might be the ones behind the website, the prizes, and the posters—but YOU are the ones that make the magic happen, you are the community organizers, the motivators, and the physical activity champions!
