Navigating the Web App

Looking for help figuring out our website? The website is where you are right now and the web app is where you go to access the NWTRPA Walking Challenge user account if you have one (Team Captains or Self Registered users). To help you navigate the new features of the web app, we’ve created this page full of useful information.

Team Captains

Team Captains are Self Registered users who have decided to make a team! Amongst other things, they are responsible for entering their own activity, entering the activity of all Captain Registered users on their team, and helping Self Registered users enter or edit activity if needed.

If you’re a Team Captain having trouble, the following information might help.

What are submission deadlines and what do I need to do about them?

  • Do your best to enter all of your activity, and the activity of your Captain Registered teammates, for the period on the web app before the deadline passes. These deadlines are meant to help keep everyone motivated during their NWTRPA Walking Challenge and make every participant from the NWT eligible for the weekly prize draws!
  • **Please note that submission deadlines will NOT be locked in, so you will always be able to enter activity for dates that have passed.

Self Registered Users

Self Registered users are participants on a team that would like to access and use the many fun features of the web app. They’ve used their e-mail and made a password to create an account. Self Registered users are responsible for entering their own activity, but their Team Captains can help them enter or edit activity if needed.

If you’re a Self Registered user having trouble, the following information might help.

What are submission deadlines and what do I need to do about them?

  • This handy calendar will help you keep track of activity deadlines, which happen at 11:59pm each Monday. Do your best to enter all of your activity for the period on the web app before the deadline passes. These deadlines are meant to help keep everyone motivated on their NWT Walking Challenge and make every participant from the NWT eligible for the weekly prize draws!
  • Activity will not get locked in after the deadline, so you will always be able to enter activity for dates that have passed.

I switched teams and now I can’t add activity to my account!

  • If you’re unable to add activity to your account after switching teams, you may still be on your old team! Click on “My Team(s)” near the top of your page and see if more than one team is listed. You’ll need to make sure you click on your new team in order to add time. Make sure to ask the Team Captain of your old team to delete you from their team roster so that only your new team is listed.

I switched teams, why am I getting Team Messages from my old team?

  • If you’re seeing Team Messages from your old team, you’re likely still on your old team! Click on “My Team(s)” near the top of your page and see if more than one team is listed. If you are on more than one team, make sure to ask the Team Captain of your old team to delete you from their team roster so that only your new team is listed.

Captain Registered Users

Captain Registered users are participants on a team that would NOT like to access or use the web app. They did not create an account for the web app and gave their basic registration information to their Team Captain who registered them on the team. They are responsible for tracking their own activity and giving it to their Team Captain so that it can be entered or edited on their behalf. Captain Registered users can see anything on the website (including the map and news, and subscribe to the weekly NWTRPA Walking Challenge e-newsletter) because that is public to anyone visiting walktotuk.com!

Because Captain Registered users do not log into or use the web app, we don’t have any web app tutorials for Captain Registered users. If you have any questions that aren’t answered in the FAQ below, please get in touch with us at walkotuk@nwtrpa.org!

How do I keep track of my activity?

  • There are many helpful resources to help you with your NWTRPA Walking Challenge. Please note that using this resource doesn’t mean your activity was submitted! You must give your tracked activity to your Team Captain for it to be entered into the web app for you.
  • If your Team Captain will be entering your activity online for you, all you have to do is enter your activity into the calendar and send it to them- your Team Captain will take care of the rest!
